Experience from Estonia: Petrohrad / Sankt-Peterburg

A mám za sebou asi poslední větší výlet během mého pobytu v Estonsku, konec už se blíží :-( Tentokrát jsem se vydala do Petrohradu. Tento výlet jsem chtěla podniknout od té doby, kdy jsem se rozhodla pro Estonsko. Je to blízko, tak se toho musí využít :-)

And I've had last large trip during my stay in Estonia, the end already approaching :-( This time I went to St. Petersburg. This trip I wanted to take from the moment when I decided to Estonia. It's close, so it must exploit :-)

Učila jsem se o něm několikrát ve škole, takže mě zajímalo, jak ve skutečnosti vypadá, protože na fotkách je to opravdu krásné město a ve skutečnosti ještě krásnější. Možná mám v sobě tyto pocity, protože jsem tady zažila jen samé pozitivní věci. Je pravda, že jsem přijížděla do Petrohradu s malými obavami, přeci jen Petrohrad je v Rusku. Ale tyto obavy se nevyplnily, je to spíš evropské město, jen tady slyšíte kolem sebe ruštinu.

I learned about it a few times at school, so I wonder how it looks in reality. Because on the pictures is really beautiful city, and in fact even more beautiful. Maybe I have these feelings because I had there only positive things. It is true that I arrived in St. Petersburg with little fear, after all Saint Petersburg is still in Russia. But these fears had not happened, it's more like a European city, only here you can hear around Russian.

Rusové jsou přátelští lidé, takové jsou mé zkušenosti s nimi. První zkušenost hned po příjezdu v metru. Dostala jsem za 28 rublů jeden žeton. Ten jsem vhodila do správného otvoru, ale protože jsem myslela, že mám ještě něco zmáčknout, tak se přístup uzavřel a už jsem nemohla projít "přes zábranu" do metra. Ale pracovník metra tam vhodil nový žeton a ještě mi poradil, že musím vystoupit na 4 zastávce. Dvakrát během pobytu jsem otevřela mapu a dvakrát ke mně přišli lidé a zeptali se, jestli nepotřebuji pomoci. Jednou mladá slečna, která uměla dobře anglicky a s druhou ženou jsem se dorozuměla anglicko-rusky :-)

Russians are friendly people, these are my experiences with them. The first experience after arrival in the subway. Dostal jsem za 28 rublů jeden token. I threw them into the correct hole, but because I thought I had something more press. So the access closed and I could not pass "through the barrier" to the station. But subway worker threw new one there and even advised me that I need to get off at stop 4. Twice during my stay, I opened a map and two people came to me and asked if I needed help. One young girl who spoke good English and with second woman, I spoke English-Russian :-)

Těchto pozitivních zážitků bylo víc. Jednou ze zajímavostí v Petrohradu je otevírání mostů každý den po půlnoci, asi na tři hodiny. Ale začnu od začátku tohoto krátkého příběhu. V Petrodvorci jsem ve špatné řadě na lístky potkala pár z České republiky (jednou nevýhodou v Rusku je, že je všechno psané rusky, málo která informace je v angličtině). Strávila jsem s nimi úžasný den, který jsme zakončili pivem. V době, kdy jsme se loučili už nejezdilo metro a já jsem si myslela, že mosty už budou opět v provozu, protože jsem bydlela na druhé straně než je centrum. Ale nebyly, stále byly otevřené pro nákladní lodě, které pod nimi normálně nemohou proplout. A začalo ještě pršet :-( Od jednoho pána, který se taky schovával pod přístřeškem, jsem zjistila, že mosty budou ještě otevřené další dvě hodiny. To nebyla dobrá zpráva. Ale ten stejný pán zastavil nějaký ruský mladý pár, ani nevím přesně proč, neuměl moc anglicky. A náhodou i tento ruský pár zůstal na nesprávné straně, takže jsem se s nimi vydala do nějakého podniku a potom ještě do dalšího a když jsme znovu vyšli na ulici bylo už světlo a mosty byly znovu v provozu. Tento den jsem měla obzvlášť štěstí na lidi. Doufám, že se se všemi znovu opět někdy uvidím. :-)

These positive experiences were more. One of the attractions in St. Petersburg is opening the bridge each day after midnight about for three hours. But I'll start from the beginning of this short story. In Peterhof, I met a couple from Czech Republic in the wrong line on tickets (One drawback in Russia is that everything is written in Russian, only little information is in English). I spent an amazing day with them, which we finished beer. At the time we said goodbye already the subway didn't ride and I thought that the bridges are already working again. Because I lived on the other side than the center. But they were not, they were still open for cargo ships, which under them normally cannot sail. And started to rain :-( From a man who was also hiding under a shelter, I found that the bridge will not working for another two hours. That was not good news. But the same man stopped a young Russian couple, I do not know exactly why, could not speak much English. A coincidence also this Russian couple remained on the wrong side. So I went with them to some restaurant and then we went to bar. When we went out again on the streets was light and bridges were working again. This day I was especially fortunate to people. I hope I will see with everybody again :-)

Jinak všechno ostatní bylo normální objevování města a hledání míst, kde se dá najíst. V Petrohradu mají, jak normalní restaurace, tak podniky, které jsou nazvané Kafe, ale i tady můžete dostat klasické jídlo jako v našich restauracích. A taky tady najdete hodně míst s rychlým občerstvením.

Otherwise everything else was normal explore the city and find places where you can eat. In St. Petersburg they have as normal restaurants and also place, which are called Kafe, but even here you can get a classic dish like in our restaurants. And here you will find lots of sites with fast food.

Petrohrad, Petrodvorce i Pushkin jsou plné turistů a nevěst, které se chtějí vyfotit na všech známých místech. Zahrady v Petrodvorci a v Pushkinu jsou opravdu krásné. Mně se nejvíce líbilo v Pushkinu v Kateřinském parku. Petrohrad je směska několika velkých evropských měst. Má velké bulváry jako Paříž a je protnut několika kanály jako v Benátkách nebo v Amsterdamu. Líbilo se mi procházet se kolem kanálů večer, kdy tam bylo míň aut.

St. Petersburg, Peterhof and Pushkin are full of tourists and brides who want to take a picture of all known locations. Gardens at Peterhof and Pushkin are really beautiful. I was most impressed with in the Pushkin in Catherine park. Saint Petersburg is a blend several big European cities. It has large boulevards as Paris, and is criss-crossed by several canals as Venice or Amsterdam. I liked to walk around the canals in the evening, when there were fewer cars.

Jak už jsem psala dřív, tak všechno je všude psané rusky a jen pár informací je v angličtině. Umím trochu číst azbuku, takže jsem se většinou dozvěděla co jsem potřebovala. Ale v Petrodvorci v tom mají dobrý chaos. Nejdřív jsem zjistila, že pokladna pro vstup do paláce je jen pro Rusy a my cizinci musíme vystát řadu, kde už stojí Rusové s lístky do pálace, a až teprve potom v paláci si koupit lístek. A to jen v určitou dobu a za rozdílné ceny než Rusové. Také všichni průvodci mluví jen rusky a nejsou tam žádné anglický popisky. Jen tohle byly negativní poznatky z pobytu. Jinak jsem si výlet užila.

As I wrote before, so everything is all written in Russian and only some information is in English. I can read a bit Russian alphabet, so I found out most of what I needed. But at Peterhof in that they have a good chaos. At first I found that the box office for entry to the palace is only for Russians. We foreigners have to stand in line, where already stand the Russians with tickets to the palace, and only then in the palace we can buy a ticket. And it only at specific times and at different prices than the Russians. Also, all the guides speak only Russian and there are no English description. Just that were the negative findings of my stay. Otherwise, I enjoyed the trip.
